Specialist CCTV surveys

See the true condition of your drains

Our engineers use specialist CCTV cameras that are fed into the drain and stream a live picture back to a monitor, so the state of the pipework can be assessed accurately and quickly. Whether you have split drains, root ingress or a vermin issue, we can see the cause.

Once the survey is complete, our experts analyse the footage and provide clear recommendations. Common issues we find include blockages, tree root intrusion, cracked and fractured pipes, loose pipe connections, vermin infestation and collapsed drains.

We believe in fair, transparent pricing — CCTV surveys start from just £225. Every survey comes with a digital download link to the footage plus a written report, so you have a permanent record to make decisions from.

  • High-definition footage recorded on every job
  • No-dig, remote-controlled camera technology
  • Digital report and footage download supplied afterwards
Who needs a survey

Three common reasons to book a CCTV survey

Domestic drain surveys

Homeowners often book a survey to understand their drainage system or before starting an extension or renovation project. If you have private drains, you can move or alter them without water authority permission; shared drains may need a build-over agreement.

Home-buyer surveys

Before purchasing a property, it's worth knowing the drainage system is sound. Faulty or deteriorated drains can lead to structural problems and costly repairs later. We issue a detailed report covering condition and any recommended remedial works.

Commercial drain surveys

We survey commercial drainage systems of all sizes — offices, warehouses, schools and healthcare premises — including detailed drain mapping using the latest equipment. See our Commercial Services.

What happens during a survey

When you contact 5 Star Drainage, we'll arrive at your property and carry out a comprehensive survey suitable for all types of premises.

Our no-dig, remote-controlled CCTV technology delivers high-definition live pictures to a monitor — on average a survey takes one to two hours to complete, and we're happy to show you the live footage if you'd like to see it. All work is compliant with the latest health and safety regulations.

Once finished, we provide an in-depth report of our findings, plus a link to the recorded footage for your records, including any issues identified and our recommended treatment.

Common questions

CCTV survey FAQs

A CCTV drain survey is commonly arranged when a drain issue occurs deep in the system. High-tech cameras identify the source of an issue such as a blockage, crack or leak so it can be fixed before the problem worsens.
The longer the drainage run, the longer the survey takes — we need to cover every part of the system for a thorough result. On average you can expect a survey to take around one to two hours.
If issues are found we'll quote for the best method of fixing the problem — this may be a CIPP patch repair, drain lining, or in extreme cases excavation works.
Yes — every survey is supplied to you via a digital download link upon completion, alongside our written report.
